Kay joined Excel Physical Therapy and Fitness in October, 2003 and currently holds the position of staff physical therapist at our Jenkintown location. Kay received her post-graduate Certificate in Physical Therapy from Hahnemann University in 1981. She became certified as an Orthopedic Specialist in 1995, by the Board of Specialties of the American Physical Therapy Association. 

Kay currently holds a Diploma in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy granted by the McKenzie Institute International in New Zealand.  As a Diplomat, Ms. Scanlon is recognized as an expert in the diagnosis and management of mechanical spinal pain.  This is the highest level of distinction within the McKenzie Institute. Kay lectures at post-graduate Physical Therapy programs and other PT practices on the topic of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy.

The McKenzie Institute adheres to a philosophy of diagnosing and treating musculoskeletal pain - especially the spine- that focuses on patient involvement and teaching self-management techniques, rather than use of passive or palliative modalities.  Find out more by visiting www.mcKenziemdt.org.

Kay was awarded her clinical doctorate in Physical Therapy at Arcadia University in Glenside, in the spring of  2007.

Kay Scanlon currently holds a board position governing the Private Practice Section of the American Physical Therapy Association. Ms. Scanlon is very involved with both the Pennsylvania Physical Therapy Association and the Private Practice Section of the APTA, serving as chairperson on task forces and committees involved with reimbursements and payor relations.

As for hobbies, Kay Scanlon is an avid sailor and enjoys hiking, gardening and cooking in her free time.
