Kristin Stankus joined the Excel Physical Therapy and Fitness team in September 2011 as a staff Physical Therapist at the Rothman Institute in Center City location.
Kristin is originally from Arlington, Virginia. She developed an interest in Physical Therapy in high school after completing a course in Physical Therapy/Sports Medicine as well as being exposed to experiences with Physical Therapy as a competitive soccer player. In pursuit of a career in Physical Therapy, she graduated from University of Mary Washington in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. Kristin developed a strong interest in the orthopedic out-patient population when she worked as a Physical Therapy aide during and after college. Kristin graduated from Thomas Jefferson University with a Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy in August 2011. During her graduate education and clinical experience, she fostered a continued interest in orthopedics, especially the spine, and manual therapy. Kristin participated in a systematic review of the literature for her Doctoral project called “The Effect of Manual Therapy and Stretching on Costochondritis/Tietze Syndrome/Slipping Rib Syndrome” which was submitted to the Journal of Manual and Manipulative Therapy for review.
Kristin aspires to further her professional skills in manual therapy and treatment of the spine and orthopedic injuries through continuing education and the pursuit of specialty certifications in McKenzie Mechanical Diagnosis Therapy and Orthopedic Physical Therapy.
Kristin’s goal is to develop productive relationships with patients by emphasizing quality, one on one care that addresses individual needs and specific goals for recovery and assists patients in obtaining their optimal level of function.
In her spare time, Kristin enjoys playing soccer, running, being outdoors, finding new things to do in the city and spending time with friends and family.
