Emily joined Excel Physical Therapy and Fitness in May 2008. She is a staff Physical Therapist at the Villanova clinic. Emily graduated from Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. Prior to her graduate work, she received her bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, also from Slippery Rock. While earning her doctorate, Emily was employed as a water exercise instructor and a physical therapist aide.
Emily’s primary interests in physical therapy are in orthopedics and manual therapy, particularly working with the SI joint/lumbar spine and the shoulder. Emily received her certification for Active Release Technique (ART) in February 2010 for the upper extremities and in 2011 for the lower extremities. She is Direct Access certified, allowing her to legally treat patients without a physician’s prescription. She enjoys working in the outpatient setting because it is challenging and it allows her to work with many populations. In her free time, Emily enjoys running in Fairmount Park, taking spinning classes, and spending time with friends and family.
