Cam joined the Excel Physical Therapy and Fitness team in April 2004, as a staff Physical Therapist at the Glen Mills location. He also holds the title of Manager of Fitness Services and oversees the operations of the fitness division at the Glen Mills clinic. He previously worked at an outpatient clinic, treating a variety of orthopedic conditions. Cam received his BS in Biology from Shippensburg University. Upon graduation he moved on to Thomas Jefferson University, in Philadelphia, to pursue a career in physical therapy. While there, Cam performed graduate research on glenohumeral joint mobilizations and their effect of muscular strength.
He prefers to use a mechanical diagnostic approach to readily identify musculoskeletal problems. Corresponding treatments often include stabilization based exercises to restore optimal body mechanics. When appropriate, Cam likes to incorporate “neurodynamics” into exercise programs to remedy nervous system entrapments. Cam is Direct Access certified, permitting him to legally treat patients without a physician’s prescription. In 2009, Cam acquired his Kettlebell certification, RKC and in 2010, Cam became certified in administering Functional Movement Screens.
Cam’s interests lie in sports injuries, rehabilitation, and performance enhancement techniques. His specialty is in shoulder pathology resulting from faulty overhead throwing mechanics. This expertise has led him to work closely with a number of pitchers to improve mechanics and increase throwing speed. One of his more recent pursuits is analyzing swing mechanics for golfers, and developing flexibility and strengthening regimens based on his findings.
Cam spends most of his free time coaching youth baseball in Towamencin (age 14 to 16), or playing in a recreational baseball league. Weekends and vacation usually include camping or fishing and any time left is spent on the golf course. He is also an active supporter and participant in the Gift of Life program, which promotes organ donation and transplantation.
