Staff Profiles

Staff

Excel employees have the qualifications and advanced skills needed to provide you with the highest level of care.

Excel Physical Therapy and Fitness believes in keeping their physical therapists (PT) current in their education in order to get you better, faster.

That is why every PT is required to participate in 40 hours of continuing education above and beyond what is required by the American Physical Therapy Association. This makes our PTs some of the most knowledgeable in the Delaware Valley and what differentiates us from other physical therapy providers.

Besides the continuing education credits, many of our PTs have advanced training certificates and degrees including:

McKenzie Certification (Cert. MDT)

Therapists who are McKenzie certified have passed an extensive four part series of classes to practice a specific type of diagnosis and treatment of spinal conditions.

Active Release Technique (ART)

Therapists specializing in ART use a patented, manual soft tissue release technique to treat painful problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves.

Vestibular Rehabilitation

Vertigo may be due to an inner ear, or vestibular disorder.  Physical therapists often specialize in an area of therapy called vestibular rehabilitation, in which therapists work to improve the symptoms of dizziness and the balance problems that you may also experience.  Therapy for vestibular disorders takes many forms. The type of exercise utilized depends upon the unique problems that the individual demonstrates during the evaluation. Some exercises are geared toward helping with balance, some with helping the brain resolve differences in the inner ear signals, and some with improving the ability to visually focus. In addition, general exercise is often prescribed to improve overall physical health and well-being.

Some conditions that may be helped with Vestibular Rehabilitation:
BPPV – Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo
Concussion
Vestibular Neuritis
Labyrinthitis
MDDS – Mal de Debarquement
Dizziness

Athletic Training (ATC)

This certification is given by the National Athletic Trainers Association after completing academic and clinical requirements for the treatment and prevention of athletic injuries.

Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS)

This certification is for professionals who design and implement strength and conditioning programs for athletes in a team setting.

Orthopedic Certified Specialist (OCS)

The American Physical Therapy Association grants this certification after participants have extensive experience in treating orthopedic conditions and have passed a stringent examination.

Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT)

The wave of the future is the requirement of a Doctorate in Physical Therapy to become a physical therapist. Many therapists who have graduated when this program was non-existent choose to go back to college to obtain this higher degree.

Direct Access (DA) Certified

PTs who have at least two years of experience and have maintained their continuing education can apply for their Direct Access Certification. This certification allows them to treat patients for 30 days without a prescription.
We have at least one DA certified therapist at each of our locations to allow you to obtain physical therapy services without delay.
